Boxing and Fist Fights
An un-named Pocklington youth had a boxing match at Quarry Hill in the York Road near Leeds with a Lancashire lad for a £5 a side wager match. There were 20 rounds and the fight lasted and hour and eighteen minutes and the Pocklington "Canny Lad" was declared the winner.
