Football
Football has been played in Pocklington since at least 1775 as shown by the following article which appeared in the "Hull Packet and East Riding Times" newspaper for May 12 1876 . This version of the game would not be the rules we know today, as it does mention the ball being 'thrown up', but more like Mob Football where almost anything goes.
